Kamileon Professional Development, Inc. is an Atlanta-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2008.
Through personalized career and image coaching, we've helped more than 4,000 people—including Youth (ages 18-24), Veterans, nonviolent former offenders, domestic violence survivors, and other struggling job seekers—find meaningful work and financial stability.
Our Story
In 1998, Kamila Brown Washington sat in a waiting room listening for her name to be called for a job interview. Across from her, another woman was waiting, too. She was well dressed, with new shoes, a neat manicure, and a polished hairstyle. Kamila had none of these things. By the time her name was called, Kamila had convinced herself she didn’t have a chance next to this better-dressed, more confident professional. In fact, she didn’t get that job. But she did get a vision.
Kamila founded Kamileon Professional Development, Inc. in 2008 to help people facing obstacles to employment. Since then, KPD has grown to include career advice, skills, technology and job-search training, image makeovers, life coaching, and educational resources for struggling job seekers across metro Atlanta, Georgia. Through their global outreach program, KPD also provides services to partners in Nairobi, Kenya; Port-au-Prince, Haiti; and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
